Kirsten Lykke, M. SC., Consultant in Flexible Packaging Technology is looking forward to welcoming you to an informative and inspiring day focused on flexible packaging, recyclability and the latest requirements in the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).


The day offers networking, professional insight and concrete tools for your work with food packaging, and is equally relevant for companies in the pharmaceutical sector.

The course combines professional presentations with practical exercises and is aimed at everyone who works with – or is facing the transition to – more recyclable packaging solutions. Whether you are new to the field or want to update your knowledge, you will take home both an overview and applicable insight.



  • Welcome by Kirsten Lykke and MULTIVAC FoodHub Nordic.
  • Introduction to PackagingLAB – MULTIVAC FoodHub Nordic’s test and development centre, where various packaging types and processes are worked on.
  • Participants will later have the opportunity for a guided tour of MULTIVAC FoodHub Nordic, where we will take a closer look at packaging machines and mono-materials
  • Food waste and packaging waste.
  • Examples of flexible packaging solutions for food.
  • Construction of laminates for specific foods (traditional solutions).
  • Packaging of dry and moist foods (simple examples).
  • Plastic types and properties:
    • Oriented vs. non-oriented films
    • Polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), additives and corona treatment
  • Introduction to extrusion processes.
  • Calculation of barrier properties in laminates.
  • Exercise.
  • Printing and lamination.
  • Printing inks and lamination adhesives.
  • Specific requirements for food packaging in the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
  • Mechanical and chemical recycling.
  • Design requirements for better recyclability
    • Executive Order No. 323 of 20 March 2025, RecyClass, EN 18120 standard).
    • The influence of lamination adhesives and printing inks on the recyclability of the packaging.
  • Construction of recyclable laminates.
  • Use of mono-materials on various packaging machines.
  • Barrier properties in mono-materials (PVOH, EVOH, SiOx, AlOx):
    • Where and when the different barrier layers are used.
  • Construction of recyclable laminates for packaging dry and moist products.
  • Exercise.

A visit to PackagingLAB, where you will gain an insight into various packaging machines and mono-materials.

In the event of cancellation less than 8 days before the course is held, 50% of the participation fee will be invoiced.

The course is held at MULTIVAC FoodHub Nordic, who also handle registration and payment. The participation fee is invoiced based on the billing information provided during registration.

We reserve the right to cancel the course if there are fewer than 10 registrations.

Kirsten Lykke has more than 25 years of experience in the packaging industry. She often acts as a link between brand owner and packaging supplier and helps brand owners set the right requirements and make the optimal packaging choices.

She has 8 years of experience as an independent consultant in flexible packaging, as well as 20 years of experience as development manager at Amcor Flexibles. She holds a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
